2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Renames Engine Options Adds Small Modifications

The 2024 Silverado's exterior styling carries over from the 2023 model, but Chevrolet added a pair of new styling packages for 2024. There's a new Midnight Edition package available for High Country models, which replaces the chrome brights with dark trim and adds black power-operating aid steps with LED lighting. Meanwhile, a separate blackout exterior package adds dark trim and graphics to the Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT Trail Boss, RST, and ZR2 trims. The Silverado also gets two new exterior colors, and models with the 6.2-liter V-8 now include an active exhaust system with a sport mode.

Inside, the base WT model now gets standard wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and access to OnStar; the rest of the Silverado family continues with the larger 13.4-inch infotainment system. All 2024 Silverado 1500 models also add a rear seat belt indicator system. High Country trucks now get standard adaptive cruise control, and front and rear park assist are now included in the Safety and WT Safety packages. Other standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane departure steering assist, and forward collision alert.

The 2024 Silverado's performance still comes from a quartet of engines. Chevrolet renamed the 310-horsepower, turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine the TurboMax. Also available are a 355-horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8; a 420-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8; and the ZR2's new 305-horsepower turbodiesel 3.0-liter inline-six. Trucks with the 2.7-liter engine use an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the other three engines get a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard on WT, Custom, and LT versions, while the rest of the range can only be had with four-wheel drive. With the 2.7-liter engine, the Silverado can tow up to 9,500 pounds with rear-wheel drive and 9,300 pounds with four-wheel drive; 11,300 pounds with RWD and 11,000 pounds with the 5.3-liter V-8 in 4WD; 13,300 lbs for 8 or RWD diesel models.

Chevy didn't immediately reveal pricing for the 2024 Silverado 1500 but expects the truck to be priced similarly to the 2023 model. Currently, the 2023 Silverado 1500 starts at $38,195 (including a $1,895 destination charge).
