Should I choose a weld-on or clamp-on tip?
One design isn’t necessarily better than the other, but they are quite different. A few key points must be considered before choosing your exhaust tip.
Clamp-on Tips
Anyone with a wrench can install a clamp-on style exhaust tip—they require no welding and install quickly. Most models even feature an integrated clamp, making it even easier. Just slide the tip onto your tailpipe, tighten the nut and voila—instant style the quick and easy way. Clamp-on tips are the perfect choice for the do-it-yourselfer.
Clamp-on exhaust tips have two major drawbacks. Vibrations may cause the clamp to come loose, so you’ll want to tighten your tips up now and then. And, the gleam may catch the eyes of a petty thief, resulting in the loss of your tip.

How do I know what size to choose?
Inlet Size:
The inlet measurement on the exhaust tip must match the diameter of your tailpipe.
Outlet Size:
This is the size of the exhaust side of your tip. Some tips flare out, some are straight. If your vehicle’s body has a cut-out for an exhaust tip, make sure the new one will clear this area to avoid an unsightly fit, or even worse, burning or scorching your vehicle’s body.
Length:
This measurement determines how far out your tip is going to extend. Just as with outlet size, you must consider the locations of any factory cut-outs. You also want to make sure that the hot exhaust gasses will be exiting safely.
